Groestlcoin 6th Anniversary Release

Introduction

Dear Groestlers, it goes without saying that 2020 has been a difficult time for millions of people worldwide. The groestlcoin team would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone our best to everyone coping with the direct and indirect effects of COVID-19. Let it bring out the best in us all and show that collectively, we can conquer anything.
The centralised banks and our national governments are facing unprecedented times with interest rates worldwide dropping to record lows in places. Rest assured that this can only strengthen the fundamentals of all decentralised cryptocurrencies and the vision that was seeded with Satoshi's Bitcoin whitepaper over 10 years ago. Despite everything that has been thrown at us this year, the show must go on and the team will still progress and advance to continue the momentum that we have developed over the past 6 years.
In addition to this, we'd like to remind you all that this is Groestlcoin's 6th Birthday release! In terms of price there have been some crazy highs and lows over the years (with highs of around $2.60 and lows of $0.000077!), but in terms of value– Groestlcoin just keeps getting more valuable! In these uncertain times, one thing remains clear – Groestlcoin will keep going and keep innovating regardless. On with what has been worked on and completed over the past few months.

UPDATED - Groestlcoin Core 2.18.2

This is a major release of Groestlcoin Core with many protocol level improvements and code optimizations, featuring the technical equivalent of Bitcoin v0.18.2 but with Groestlcoin-specific patches. On a general level, most of what is new is a new 'Groestlcoin-wallet' tool which is now distributed alongside Groestlcoin Core's other executables.
NOTE: The 'Account' API has been removed from this version which was typically used in some tip bots. Please ensure you check the release notes from 2.17.2 for details on replacing this functionality.

ALL NEW - Groestlcoin Moonshine iOS/Android Wallet

Built with React Native, Moonshine utilizes Electrum-GRS's JSON-RPC methods to interact with the Groestlcoin network.
GRS Moonshine's intended use is as a hot wallet. Meaning, your keys are only as safe as the device you install this wallet on. As with any hot wallet, please ensure that you keep only a small, responsible amount of Groestlcoin on it at any given time.

ALL NEW! – HODL GRS Android Wallet

HODL GRS connects directly to the Groestlcoin network using SPV mode and doesn't rely on servers that can be hacked or disabled.
HODL GRS utilizes AES hardware encryption, app sandboxing, and the latest security features to protect users from malware, browser security holes, and even physical theft. Private keys are stored only in the secure enclave of the user's phone, inaccessible to anyone other than the user.
Simplicity and ease-of-use is the core design principle of HODL GRS. A simple recovery phrase (which we call a Backup Recovery Key) is all that is needed to restore the user's wallet if they ever lose or replace their device. HODL GRS is deterministic, which means the user's balance and transaction history can be recovered just from the backup recovery key.

ALL NEW! – GroestlcoinSeed Savior

Groestlcoin Seed Savior is a tool for recovering BIP39 seed phrases.
This tool is meant to help users with recovering a slightly incorrect Groestlcoin mnemonic phrase (AKA backup or seed). You can enter an existing BIP39 mnemonic and get derived addresses in various formats.
To find out if one of the suggested addresses is the right one, you can click on the suggested address to check the address' transaction history on a block explorer.

ALL NEW! – Vanity Search Vanity Address Generator

NOTE: NVidia GPU or any CPU only. AMD graphics cards will not work with this address generator.
VanitySearch is a command-line Segwit-capable vanity Groestlcoin address generator. Add unique flair when you tell people to send Groestlcoin. Alternatively, VanitySearch can be used to generate random addresses offline.
If you're tired of the random, cryptic addresses generated by regular groestlcoin clients, then VanitySearch is the right choice for you to create a more personalized address.
VanitySearch is a groestlcoin address prefix finder. If you want to generate safe private keys, use the -s option to enter your passphrase which will be used for generating a base key as for BIP38 standard (VanitySearch.exe -s "My PassPhrase" FXPref). You can also use VanitySearch.exe -ps "My PassPhrase" which will add a crypto secure seed to your passphrase.
VanitySearch may not compute a good grid size for your GPU, so try different values using -g option in order to get the best performances. If you want to use GPUs and CPUs together, you may have best performances by keeping one CPU core for handling GPU(s)/CPU exchanges (use -t option to set the number of CPU threads).

ALL NEW! – Electrum Personal Server

Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server aims to make using Electrum Groestlcoin wallet more secure and more private. It makes it easy to connect your Electrum-GRS wallet to your own full node.
It is an implementation of the Electrum-grs server protocol which fulfils the specific need of using the Electrum-grs wallet backed by a full node, but without the heavyweight server backend, for a single user. It allows the user to benefit from all Groestlcoin Core's resource-saving features like pruning, blocks only and disabled txindex. All Electrum-GRS's feature-richness like hardware wallet integration, multi-signature wallets, offline signing, seed recovery phrases, coin control and so on can still be used, but connected only to the user's own full node.
Full node wallets are important in Groestlcoin because they are a big part of what makes the system be trust-less. No longer do people have to trust a financial institution like a bank or PayPal, they can run software on their own computers. If Groestlcoin is digital gold, then a full node wallet is your own personal goldsmith who checks for you that received payments are genuine.
Full node wallets are also important for privacy. Using Electrum-GRS under default configuration requires it to send (hashes of) all your Groestlcoin addresses to some server. That server can then easily spy on your transactions. Full node wallets like Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server would download the entire blockchain and scan it for the user's own addresses, and therefore don't reveal to anyone else which Groestlcoin addresses they are interested in.
Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can also broadcast transactions through Tor which improves privacy by resisting traffic analysis for broadcasted transactions which can link the IP address of the user to the transaction. If enabled this would happen transparently whenever the user simply clicks "Send" on a transaction in Electrum-grs wallet.
Note: Currently Groestlcoin Electrum Personal Server can only accept one connection at a time.

Mining ERC-918 Tokens (0xBitcoin)

GENERAL INFORMATION

0xBitcoin (0xBTC) is the first mineable ERC20 token on Ethereum. It uses mining for distribution, unlike all previous ERC20 tokens which were assigned to the contract deployer upon creation. 0xBTC is the first implementation of the EIP918 mineable token standard (https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-918), which opened up the possibility of a whole new class of mineable assets on Ethereum. Without any ICO, airdrop, pre-mine, or founder’s reward, 0xBitcoin is arguably the most decentralized asset in the Ethereum ecosystem, including even Ether (ETH), which had a large ICO.
The goal of 0xBitcoin is to be looked at as a currency and store of value asset on Ethereum. Its 21 million token hard cap and predictable issuance give it scarcity and transparency in terms of monetary policy, both things that Ether lacks. 0xBitcoin has certain advantages over PoW based currencies, such as compatibility with smart contracts and decentralized exchanges. In addition, 0xBTC cannot be 51% attacked (without attacking Ethereum), is immune from the “death spiral”, and will receive the benefits of scaling and other improvements to the Ethereum network.

GETTING 0xBITCOIN TOKENS

0xBitcoin can be mined using typical PC hardware, traded on exchanges (either decentralized or centralized) or purchased from specific sites/contracts.

-Mined using PC hardware

-Traded on exchanges such as

MINING IN A NUTSHELL

0xBitcoin is a Smart Contract on the Ethereum network, and the concept of Token Mining is patterned after Bitcoin's distribution. Rather than solving 'blocks', work is issued by the contract, which also maintains a Difficulty which goes up or down depending on how often a Reward is issued. Miners can put their hardware to work to claim these rewards, in concert with specialized software, working either by themselves or together as a Pool. The total lifetime supply of 0xBitcoin is 21,000,000 tokens and rewards will repeatedly halve over time.
The 0xBitcoin contract was deployed by Infernal_Toast at Ethereum address: 0xb6ed7644c69416d67b522e20bc294a9a9b405b31
0xBitcoin's smart contract, running on the Ethereum network, maintains a changing "Challenge" (that is generated from the previous Ethereum block hash) and an adjusting Difficulty Target. Like traditional mining, the miners use the SoliditySHA3 algorithm to solve for a Nonce value that, when hashed alongside the current Challenge and their Minting Ethereum Address, is less-than-or-equal-to the current Difficulty Target. Once a miner finds a solution that satisfies the requirements, they can submit it into the contract (calling the Mint() function). This is most often done through a mining pool. The Ethereum address that submits a valid solution first is sent the 50 0xBTC Reward.
(In the case of Pools, valid solutions that do not satisfy the full difficulty specified by the 0xBitcoin contract, but that DO satisfy the Pool's specified Minimum Share Difficulty, get a 'share'. When one of the Miners on that Pool finds a "Full" solution, the number of shares each miner's address has submitted is used to calculate how much of the 50 0xBTC reward they will get. After a Reward is issued, the Challenge changes.
A Retarget happens every 1024 rewards. In short, the Contract tries to target an Average Reward Time of about 60 times the Ethereum block time. So (at the time of this writing):
~13.9 seconds \* 60 = 13.9 minutes
If the average Reward Time is longer than that, the difficulty will decrease. If it's shorter, it will increase. How much longer or shorter it was affects the magnitude with which the difficulty will rise/drop, to a maximum of 50%. * Click Here to visit the stats page~ (https://0x1d00ffff.github.io/0xBTC-Stats) to see recent stats and block times, feel free to ask questions about it if you need help understanding it.

MINING HARDWARE

Presently, 0xBitcoin and "Alt Tokens" can be mined on GPUs, CPUs, IGPs (on-CPU graphics) and certain FPGAs. The most recommended hardware is nVidia graphics cards for their efficiency, ubiquity and relatively low cost. As general rules, the more cores and the higher core frequency (clock) you can get, the more Tokens you will earn!

/r/Monero - Newcomers Please Read. Everything You Need To Know.

What is Monero (XMR)?
Monero is a secure, private, untraceable (crypto-)currency. It is open-source and freely available to all. Don't believe us? Click here.
Monero is a tool that people can actually use. It makes receiving payments hassle-free, since merchants and individuals no longer need to fear the source of funds they are accepting. With transparent systems like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Verge, or Dash, these people need to hope (or spend substantial resources verifying) the sender did not use the funds illicitly. Furthermore, merchants do not want all their vendors known, and individually do not want everyone to know how much they are spending. If I spend more than I should at Newegg (store), that's my own business.
Monero is different because every transaction is always private. There is no way for pools and exchanges to opt out of sending private transactions. Thus, Monero's anonymity set far exceeds any other coin's anonymity set. Over 86,000 transactions in the past month of August, 2017 hid the sender and receiver, and about 99.95% of them also hid the amount (will increase to 100% of all new transactions in September)! There is no suspicion in using a private transaction, since all transactions are private. A single transaction does not stick out.*
This privacy is afforded with the best technology. I implore you to take a few minutes to learn about the four main technologies that Monero uses to provide privacy:
There are several other things that make Monero great! It has a smooth tail emission, dynamic blocks and fees, and an accessible Proof of Work (mining) algorithm.
*You can optionally choose a very large, unusual ringsize to make the transaction stick out. This is not recommended, and normal users who leave the ringsize at the default setting will not experience any issues. Also, it's possible for a user to manually add identifying information to the tx_extra field, which is something that a user must seriously go out of their way to do.
Now you know Monero (XMR) has the best technology. What else makes Monero (XMR) different than other cryptocurrencies?
P.S. Want a quick-start, simple your-grandma-could-do-it guide? Here's a great one!
Am I a bad person to consider using this?
No, Monero is freedom money. You can do whatever you want with it, whenever you want, where ever you want. We make it clear that you should own your wealth 100%. What you do with it, is none of our concern.
Where does the word Monero come from?
The word Monero comes from the language Esperanto. Monero means coin oand currency. The plural way of saying Monero in Esperanto and in our cryptocurrency is Moneroj.

Is there a lightweight wallet for Monero?
Not yet, but you can use the official GUI with a remote node.
Are there any other ways to store Monero (XMR)?
Yes, there are many mobile wallets out there that allow you to store Monero (XMR). We do not recommend them, because they are not official releases of Monero. If you do decide to use other wallets, please make sure to do your research first before storing any Moneroj in the wallet. Anything used for Monero outside of official releases, will be used at your own risk. Some may be used for scamming purposes. If you still decide to take the risk; do not use them for large amounts. Also keep in mind that there is a high chance that Monero support will not be able to help you if you bump into any problems from applications outside of official releases. Why should you not use non-official wallets? Well would you buy a house and give your only key you have to the buildemanagement and wait for him/her to open the door to the house you supposedly own? No. Same goes with cryptocurrencies. You should always have possession of your private keys, and your Moneroj. Most non-official releases own your private keys, therefore you do not own the Moneroj.

Introduction to Garlicoin

FAQs

What is Garlicoin?
Garlicoin is a community-based cryptocurrency that was originally founded based on a meme of garlic bread that reached the front page of Reddit. The concept of a memecoin is similar to that of the more well-known Dogecoin, but Garlicoin is actually a fork of Litecoin, which is itself a fork of Bitcoin.
What technology is behind Garlicoin?
As it's just a fork of Litecoin, it's basically the same thing with how the addresses, wallets, etc. work but there are a few key differences. Most importantly, the mining algorithm is called "Allium," which was specially developed to be ASIC-resistant. Originally the coin was based on Scrypt-N but a hard-fork occurred on 2/16/2018 in order to solve the problem of ASICs that were discovered on the network. Another key difference is that Garlicoin only has a 40 second block time, so transactions confirm very fast.
Who developed Garlicoin?
Disclaimer: Most of the code was copy-pasted. However, there are a few developers that continue to work on the project. u/DigitalizedOrange was the founder, he likes anime. Most of the moderators are also part of the team.
Should I invest in Garlicoin?
Like any cryptocurrency, don't treat it as investing. Treat it like speculation or gambling. If you're not willing to lose that money, the answer is no. Garlicoin has even more risk behind it as it isn't trying to be at the forefront of technology or anything. All we have is meme appeal and garlic bread.
Why did the price just moon? Or why did it just crash?
With such a low volume in Garlicoin exchanges, the price can be easily manipulated. Trade with caution.
How can I start mining?
Check out the mining section in the links and tutorials down below. There's a great guide to setting everything up by Pandawan.
Why does the explorer show a different value than my web-based wallet?
Some web-based wallets, such as GarlicWallet.com, are shared wallets meaning that you don't own the private keys and the website will move your coins around between addresses. The address you receive just credits your online account so you can withdraw a specific amount however you technically do not own those coins and if the site goes down then you may lose access to them forever. For that reason, it's highly recommended that you use a wallet where you own the private keys. Paper wallets are the most secure for large values as long as you physically keep them in a safe place, as they cannot be hacked.
What other Garlic Bread goodness can I get into?
Check out GBDS (dating simulator) and GarlicBreadMemes if you can't get enough.
I have another question that isn't answered here!
First try using the search bar for this subreddit. If you can't find an answer then you can create a new thread and someone from the community will most likely help you. If I forgot to add a commonly asked question to this guide, or if there's anything else you'd like to see explained/linked here, please let me know in the comments.

COSMiC Miner v4.1.2 Update (Win64/nVidia | GUI-based | Multi-GPU)

Hello everyone! I'm happy to share what I've been working on with you today. This is an update to COSMiC Miner which adds new features, under-the-hood improvements and (of course) optimizations to the CUDA core for greater efficiency. I call this build "beta" because I've added significant new functionality, but it actually includes refinements for greater stability. With miners' feedback, I'll make any desired improvements for 4.1.3. :)
Important Note: Now built against CUDA v10.0 - It is strongly recommended that you update your nVidia graphics drivers. It is NOT necessary to install the CUDA toolkit.

MiningPoolHub + NiceHash + WhatToMine = ?

Hi all!
Let's assume someone has the following mining objectives:
  1. Build a setup-and-forget rig, because personal time is too important to be entirelly spent monitoring hashing power and currency rates.
  2. Always mine the most profitable coin for their hardware, even if that means changing to other pools.
  3. Automatically exchange all mined coins to preffered one.
At this time the 2 most popular ways to approach these objectives are:
  1. NiceHash. It pays in BTC but has 2 disadvantages: a) Its switching algo is not transparent, so you can't be sure they always choose the best for you and b) You can't change the payout coin.
  2. MiningPoolHub. You can choose the payout coin and it supports both in-algo and multi-algo coin switching.
  3. MultiPoolMiner. Powerfull but, no GUI?
Methods (1) and (2) are different pools and cannot be used simultaneously for auto switching.
So what's left? is there a way to easily setup a rig for auto switching, without limits regarding algos, pools and miners?
Please let me know if I'm missing something.
What I am trying to do:
Yesterday I built a new small rig with 2 1070ti.
I'm using BiggerDigger, a mining automator I created.
(This post is not about promoting it, I just need some advice)
I set it up to check WhatToMine.com every 10 minutes and auto mine the most profitable coin for my hardware, using ccminer and EWBF.
The 'miners.txt' file is as follows:

Simple GUI Miner: An open source, free GUI for DSTM Equihash Miner

Hey all, Fishmonger here. I'm usually known on the interwebs by like 45 people for my World of Warcraft fishing bot, but recently I've been getting into crypto mining and enjoying it. I have mainly NVIDIA cards, and started concentrating on equihash since it was the most profitable. After checking out different miners, I settled on DSTM for its speed and reliability.
However, while I can certainly make use of command line, I always felt a lightweight GUI is best, especially when done right and kept streamlined.
Enter "Fishmongers Simple GUI Miner" [catchy name I know] which is a script written in Autohotkey that adds a GUI to easily communicate with the popular 0.5.7 version of the DSTM miner.
Link and info here: https://wowfishmonger.weebly.com/mining.html
Youtube Video with info and my sexy face: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnYofYuPue8
Totally open source, totally free to use, totally something I've been doing in my spare time.
Why would I need something like this you ask?
Well, I don't know, maybe you don't, but I felt that maybe their was a need for something that combined the ease of use of the Nicehash client with the freedom of using on any pool you want. Great for saving profiles if you want to manually swap coins on MPH without using the auto swapping ports.
Is this any better than DSTM version 0.5.7?
No, it is not a miner program, just a GUI that you can use to access the DSTM miner. It just adds some ease of use so you don't have to meddle with command line or multiple .BAT files for different configurations, or some other functions that DSTM does not nativly support.
Do you charge anything? Skim hash? Eh?
Nope, however the default DSTM miner does have a 2% fee which goes directly to him. Nothing goes to me.
Do I need Autohotkey to use this?
If you want to use the .AHK script and run it directly, then yes. Otherwise I do have a download available with a compiled .EXE you can use that does not require Autohotkey.
Is it safe?
The code is in plain text, you can read everything. Read away, but please understand I'm self taught so don't ridicule my lack of standards.
What is this MINER_DSTM.EXE file that is in there as well?
That is the 0.5.7 version of the DSTM miner. I renamed it so I wouldn't accidentally overwrite the original when I was testing, but left as-is so the program can specifically call out and interact with that window and not interfere with any other versions you may also be running at the same time. The SHA256 of that file 100% matches the 0.5.7 version of DSTM miner since, you know, its the same file just renamed.
So again, why would I need this?
Maybe you don't, but for instance I am a big fan of open source software and the community around it. I made this for myself, but for others who also may be interested in doing something similar. I also don't like some of the hardcore miners out their like Awesome Miner that have way too many buttons and settings that I don't need. I am totally fine with using MiningPoolHub and having it auto convert coins for me, and my GUI will allow me to have it always run in the background and start mining when it detects my system is idle, just like NiceHash legacy.
I'm always looking for suggestions on things I can add to this as well, so feel free to comment and let me know what I can do or what you think. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you like what you see and you want to buy me a beer, I'd appreciate the tips.

Guide: Getting started with NiceHash

Hello Everyone,
In one of my my previous posts, quite a few people noticed that I had a cryptocurrency miner open on my second monitor and have requested that I create a guide on how to mine cryptocurrencies when their computer is not in use. I am not looking to start a GPU price war or any hatred towards anyone. I just want to share an easy way to get started mining cryptocurrency and allow people to earn a few extra dollars when their PCs are not in use. I am a gamer myself and love having the spare cash to upgrade hardware or a new game every once in a while. I hope this helps everyone who is interested and will do my best to answer any questions.
I am going to outline how to use NiceHash, which is the easiest way to get started. Please keep in mind that this is not the most profitable method to mining at the moment, but will provide a return to most users and is compatible with AMD, Nvidia, and CPU mining. I always suggest to check what you can earn with your current hardware first and also consider the price of electric before getting started. An estimator can be found here: https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator
Before starting, I would like to remind everyone that mining does cause a higher load on your hardware. Due to this the temperatures of your hardware will rise and I suggest that you keep an eye on them. Make sure you know the safe temperature ratings for your hardware, have proper cooling, a power supply that can support your hardware under full load, and that your hardware is clean. Remove any dust or debris before getting started to ensure that your PC is running at its best. Even if you aren't mining, these things should be kept in order.
Getting Started:
  1. Head over to NiceHash.com and in the middle of the page, in the box that says "Sell" click on the green "Download" button.
  2. Download and install the supported miner for your hardware. (Nvidia or AMD)
  3. Head back to NiceHash.com and create an account by clicking on "Register" in the upper right hand corner. You may be given the option to setup an account as a "Buyer" or a "Seller". Since we are selling our compute power for bitcoin, we are "Sellers".
  4. Once your account is created, open up the NiceHash miner on your computer. You should see two windows open, a command prompt which is the miner and a graphical user interface (GUI). In the GUI, you will need to log in to the account you have created so the earnings will be deposited in to your NiceHash account.
  5. Open up your favorite hardware monitoring application (Such as Open Hardware Monitor) so you can monitor temperatures and performance and close out of all other programs except for NiceHash and the hardware monitor. Benchmark your hardware inside the NiceHash GUI. This will test your hardware and allow the application to automatically mine the most profitable crypto algorithm available and help maximize your profit. Also, you can select the hardware you wish to mine with or disable from mining here as well.
  6. Because NiceHash has no fee to deposit your earnings to CoinBase, I am recommending them as the place to deposit and sell your bitcoin earnings. Head over to https://www.coinbase.com/join/597148c1a66a5b0156923d1e (This is my referral link. I would appreciate it if you use it, but if you wish note to, feel free to remove go directly to the site. It doesn't cost you anything or affect your account in any way, but it gives me a small bonus for referring people and I would appreciate it very much.) and create an account. Coinbase will allow you to cash out your bitcoin earnings in to your bank account or keep them for later. We all hope the price rises again, right?!
  7. Go back to your NiceHash account and click on "Wallet" in the top bar. This is where your earnings will be displayed as well as the ability to link with your CoinBase account. When you have mined enough, you can withdraw to your CoinBase account. All of the information should be provided on the websites and should be pretty simple to follow. If you have any questions regarding these sites, please ask!
  8. Close out of all your open programs except for NiceHash and your hardware monitor, then click the green "Start" button. This will start mining and you will see output in the command prompt such as your hash rate and the algorithm that NiceHash is mining. It will also display your account balance, your daily estimated earnings, and other information. You may notice that your computer is sluggish or not responding as quickly as normal due to it being under load.
  9. ???
  10. PROFIT!!!
I hope you all find this useful and that you can earn a few extra bucks by mining. Whether it be a free coffee, a new game, or just the ability to get in on the bitcoin gold rush, I hope this helps everyone who is interested and gets a few people started. If you have any questions please ask. I will try to stay up to date on this post and edit it with the most frequently asked questions.

0xBitcoin (0xBTC) nVidia CUDA Miner, Pre-Built for Windows and Instructions. Newbie-friendly!

** PLEASE READ THE README! See the end of this post for more troubleshooting tips! Thanks! **
NOTE: I've retracted build TOFU-RC1.1 because of an issue communicating shares to the pool. I'll put another build together for Windows X64, and any info you will need to run it, once we figure out what the issue is. Thanks for your patience! RC1 does not show a hashrate report, but you can verify your approx. hashrate on the TMP pool's stats page.
** This build brings CUDA mining functionality from Linux to Windows X64 users. I tried to make it as easy to set up as possible. This is still software in-the-works, so please report any problems you might have here or at the Discord so we can figure them out! Thanks! **
Here's my attempt at making the CUDA miner work on Windows, and making it as painless as I can! Hopefully this is fairly "plug and play". :) I also added some functionality. I hope you guys like it! The enclosed README.txt should explain how to run and use it and solutions to some common problems.
Build Mag517-RC1 for Windows X64: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QWF_S7mfLGDk2YARC1ZZBYkmpqILLr0h
I am going to commit my changes to the GitHub, once I set it up.
Hurrah to the whole OPEN SOURCE 0xBitcoin miner team on the Discord! Including Infernal Toast, Mikers, @0x1d00ffff, developers of code this project is based on, coder of the original CPU miner and 1000x "Kaio-Ken" version... plus everyone else who knows who they are!
Good Luck! May I suggest we join forces and point our miners at the TMP pool for the time being: http://tokenminingpool.com:8586 so that we can get some blocks and give PizzaPool some competition, with lower-fee pools and open-source, community supported miners. Let's take back the game! ;)
Donations [ETH/0xBTC] welcome! Help my broke ass buy groceries. 0xa8b8ea4C083890833f24817b4657888431486444
TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS:

INTENSITY

Is your machine's GUI too slow when mining? Try reducing intensity with the Block and Thread settings (Read on), turn off Hardware Acceleration in Windows and applications like FireFox, Chrome and Discord to make them draw with the CPU more, not the busy GPU.
If you want it buttery-smooth, boot up with your monitor connected to a separate graphics card and mine on the non-display adapter. If your CPU has on-chip graphics, you can probably hook up to your motherboard's video output (not your graphics card's). Make sure the processor or onboard graphics are enabled and set as default in your BIOS/UEFI setup.
THE WINDOW CLOSES IMMEDIATELY
This is a command-line miner, so you must run it in a command prompt / powershell to see any output if it closes prematurely. Most often, the error you're looking at is the next one:

I GET A WEIRD DEPENDENCY ERROR, LOTS OF .JS STUFF

Make sure you have CUDA v9.1 or latest installed. Install the patches that are on the same download page after you install the main package. Make sure the paths have been added to your Environment Variables in the System Control Panel, Advanced Settings. Reboot or at least log out and back in to apply the new paths before running the miner.

WANT TO MINE WITH MORE THAN ONE GPU?

Remove an SLI or Crossfire bridge, if present. Disable SLI/Crossfire. Rename the EXE file to something else. Run both instances and use the nVidia Control Panel (right-click Desktop, nVidia option) to configure which card should run which process. This neat trick was discovered by @DigitalApathy on the Discord server!

KERNEL FAILS TO LAUNCH

Investigate the reported error, if any. This is most often caused by too high Block / Thread settings. It can also mean the GPU is busy, as in the miner did not gracefully close and release the device. Reboot or otherwise reset the card via software.
POOL NOTE: I strongly recommend the use of TokenMiningPool and 0xPool as of 03.10.2018. This is so that we can build up a large enough hashpower to compete with the Pizza Pool (closed-source mining pool with DevFees.) Right now, PizzaPool is getting most of the blocks and the community pools aren't getting a fair shake. Let's join forces on TMP and 0xPool!
Enjoy! - Lt. Tofu

New to r/Tokenmining? click here for more in-depth info!

What is EIP:918?

EIP:918 is an Ethereum Improvement Proposal for standardizing mineable token distribution using Proof of Work.
The primary driver behind the standard is to address the very broken ICO model that currently plagues the Ethereum network. Token distribution via the ICO model and it’s derivatives has always been susceptible to illicit behavior by bad actors. New token projects are centralized by nature because a single entity must handle and control all of the initial coins and all of the the raised ICO money. By distributing tokens via an alternative ‘Initial Mining Offering’ (or IMO), the ownership of the token contract no longer belongs with the deployer at all and the deployer is ‘just another user.’ As a result, investor risk exposure utilizing a mined token distribution model is significantly diminished. This standard is intended to be standalone, allowing maximum interoperability with ERC20, ERC721, and future token standards.
The most effective economic side effect of Satoshi Nakamoto’s desire to secure the original Bitcoin network with Proof of Work hash mining was tethering the coin to real computing power, thereby removing centralized actors. Transitioning the responsibility of work back onto individual miners, government organizations have no jurisdiction over the operation of a pure mined token economy. Oversight is removed from an equation whereby miners are providing economic effort in direct exchange of a cryptographic commodity. This facilitates decentralized distribution and establishes all involved parties as stakeholders. The ERC918 standard allows projects to be funded through decentralized computing power instead of centralized, direct-fiat conversion.
The Ethereum blockchain in its current state exists as a thriving ecosystem which allows any individual to store immutable records in a permission-less, invulnerable and transparent manner. Recently, there have been proposals to mitigate some initial ICO investment risks through the introduction of the DAICO model that relies on timed and automated value transfers via the smart contract tapping mechanism. However, this does not align a token smart contract as a non-security and still has the potential to put investors at risk if not implemented carefully, relying on centralized actors to be fair and community intended. Allowing users of the network direct access to tokens by performing computations as a proof of work supplies allows any smart contract to distribute a token in a safe and controlled manner similar to the release of a commodity.
As of 2017, all Ethereum token distribution methods were flawed and susceptible to Sybil attacks. A Sybil attack is a form of computer security attack where one person pretends to be many people with multiple computer accounts in order to manipulate a system in a malicious way. ICOs and airdrops are highly susceptible to these type of attacks so there is no way to verify that all ERC20 tokens distributed by the deployer were doled out fairly or unfairly. Proof of Work distribution is resistant to Sybil attacks. This means that ERC918 tokens are among the first trustless Ethereum tokens in the world. The distribution of ERC918 tokens is fair because they are allotted via an open, decentralized mathematical algorithm (that anyone can view on the mainnet blockchain) and not a centralized human monarchy.
ERC918’s first incarnation (and inspiration) was the 0xBitcoin project that launched in early 2018. Since then, several projects have realized the standard in innovative and creative ways. Catether (0xCATE) erupted early and additionally mints payback tokens during transfer operations to offset gas costs. 0xGold and 0xLitecoin each implement the first on-chain merge-mining with 0xBitcoin and the Mineable Gem project extends the standard onto a non-fungible collectible artifacts, whereby each gem has a unique mining difficulty. The Mineable project is a newer initiative that provides users with the ability to create mineable ERC20 tokens on-chain without writing a line of code and includes a virtualized hashing artifact market that allows miners to purchase on-chain vGPUs to improve mining difficulty and rewards. (written by jlogelin)

# USAGE: coin_name | miner_executable | parameters | pool | wallet
BitcoinGold | C:\Miners\EWBF\miner.exe | --server europe.equihash-hub.miningpoolhub.com --user user.worker --pass x --port 20595 | https://bitcoin-gold.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=dashboard | https://bitcoin-gold.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=account&action=pooledit Nicehash-Equihash | C:\Miners\EWBF\miner.exe | --server equihash.eu.nicehash.com --user user.worker --pass x --port 3357 | https://www.nicehash.com/minemy | https://www.nicehash.com/wallet Nicehash-Lyra2REv2 | C:\Miners\ccminer\ccminer-x64.exe | -a lyra2rev2 -o stratum+tcp://lyra2rev2.eu.nicehash.com:3347 -u user.worker -p x | https://www.nicehash.com/minemy | https://www.nicehash.com/wallet Zcash | C:\Miners\EWBF\miner.exe | --server europe.equihash-hub.miningpoolhub.com --user user.worker --pass x --port 20570 | https://zcash.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=dashboard | https://zcash.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=account&action=pooledit Zclassic | C:\Miners\EWBF\miner.exe | --server europe.equihash-hub.miningpoolhub.com --user user.worker --pass x --port 20575 | https://zclassic.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=dashboard | https://zclassic.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=account&action=pooledit Zencash | C:\Miners\EWBF\miner.exe | --server europe.equihash-hub.miningpoolhub.com --user user.worker --pass x --port 20594 | https://zencash.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=dashboard | https://zencash.miningpoolhub.com/index.php?page=account&action=pooledit

In brief, I set it up to:

New to Monero and mining. Where to start?

Hey guys! I am an owner of some fraction of a Bitcoin for a month now, and know how the basic stuff work around it, but not much in general, also I have no knowledge in mining whatsoever. I am also completely new to Monero, started reading the sub today, but I want to start mining it, and I hope this post will give me some kickoff to the moonero (sorry if that pun is used a lot, but it came to me funny, shoot the ero to the moon too).
So I acknowledged that there are two general types of mining I can choose, solo mining and pool mining.
For solo mining I guess they are split between single and full nodes? This way is not much efficient but a good way to support the currency. By not much efficient, what numbers do we talk about (in XMR per time)?
I am more interested around mining pools and I like to know, even thought it is better to constantly switch pools to prevent a monopoly (I guess), what are the best pools currently for Europeans? Is it Dwarfpool, minergate, monerohash, coolpool.io, or something fifth? Which have the lowest fees, and which are the most respected in the community?
What miners do you suggest, I got an AMD, but even for Nvidia, what is generally the choice of a miner for each. I heard about Claymore, is that the way to go, where do I get the official version?
Lastly for wallets, is the new GUI wallet a decent option in general?
Now, for my personal mining I want to just test how it goes on my R9 280x, i7-2600, which I am really not sure how much I would produce on and even be profitable because I have not done the calculations, but if you have some numbers, let me know. The KW/h rate for me is $0.11. If I upgrade myself soon, what is a good budget miner build, by budget I mean something around $500, but please do suggest best options from any range also.
Any other additional tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance guy & sorry for typos, I am pretty dead atm, so I would gladly read replies tomorrow morning if there are any!
tldr; what miner and pool should I use?
